Got up earlier than everyone else and went to the Shirakawago no Yu Onsen (hot spring). Our house was very full with those of us that stayed overnight in Shirakawago - which was only, and all of, the University of Toronto student. The tatami rooms were joined together and with futons placed next to one another we all managed to fit, but somewhat like sardines.
A new tour guide took us on a hike through the mountains around the entire town that resulted in us being at the observatory again (though we arrived at it from descending the mountain). The trail got progressively more rugged and we weren't necessarily prepared, footwear wise for it). We then all grabbed lunch again before departing to Hida.
