Sleep in. Today was somewhat of a day-off. As we had no scheduled anything. Some people travelled to Toyama up north for the day. I slept in, and a few others still in Hida took a trip out to the nearby Takayama again for lunch and exploring. Had some noodles and Hida-beef sashimi. Wandered around the town looking in various shops.
Martin in the group wanted to check out an arcade on the other side of the train station (away from main touristy stuff in Takayama). Martin challenged me to Mario Kart. He was very surprised (and I was as well, but I convey that) that I won the game, as I think he plays a lot of arcade games. We later returned later on for a best of three upon his instance and even paid for the rematch. And I beat him the second time as well!
Afterwords we headed further north to a golden-roof looking temple that we could see in the distance, about 30 minutes away. We never had any luck getting to it as we encountered a series of closed off roads, tall walls, and generally just lost so we gave up to make it back to the station. We did come across a funny looking house, however.
