Today the group split to two halves to learn about electronic sensor systems and the woodshop and rapid prototyping. The morning started with the electronics for us at the FabCafe starting with the fairly basic system of Mesh in which simple sensors can be set up to work turn on LED's or activate different things. We also started to integrate with IoT systems (Internet of Things) in which you could make a light sensor send you an email and other random things just to play with the possibilties. We were taught by Shigeru Kobayashi who has invented various pieces of hardware to integrate with Arduino systems and has written books on using (albeit in Japanese).
The afternoon was the introduction to the woodshop facilities. Getting acquainted with the 3D printer and Laser Cutters. Learning how to use them despite that the interface is in Japanese. So you just to know what buttons to click. Afterwords I rented a bike and rode along the river.
